Nick Gilbert harassed Gary non-stop, trying to get him to laugh in each shot. He wound me up to bursting point and I flipped. I couldn't understand his need to sabotage anything that I felt passionated about. The session ended in disarray and that became quite a usual outcome for us. In the case of Maurice he'd usually left the band when it came time to promote what we had written and recorded. It worked out well though because Gary and I were the only ones into creating the image. Maurice would get easily bored and extremely angry if I gave direction and more often than not would wear certain items to antagonise me. And Nick Gilbert would mug to the camera and flick Gary's ear and smile like a goon when he knew it was banned.
