Live fast die young 的搖滾樂聽了這麼些年聽到伴自己成長的歌者撒手人寰的一瞬, 總還是難以接受大前年的 Elliott Smith, 去年的 Grant McLennan, 都在我心裡留下或許不大但無可彌補的空洞這個月初, 我才知道 Nikki Sudden 去年此時逝於紐約, 今天剛好是一周年忌日這位始終游走在邊緣的歌手, 70年代率 Swell Maps 以短小精悍的噪音搖滾走過龐克風潮 80年代單飛,在 Creation, Glass 等獨立廠留下許多佳作 (還有和 Dave Kusworth 合組的 Jacobites, 當年藍儂唱片發過卡帶) 90年代中期之後, 很少聽到他的消息後來才知道他仍然創作不輟, 還重組了Jacobites 甚至死前才剛完成新作 "The Truth Doesn't Matter" 或許他沒有寫過一張能完全靠好歌折服我的專輯但那歌聲細瘦而樂風狂野的民謠搖滾, 應該還會占據我腦海一陣子吧 Rest in peace. http://www.nikkisudden.com/news/index.htm Secretly Canadian 的一系列重發專輯, 有下載試聽 http://www.secretlycanadian.com/artist.php?name=sudden 推薦 Jangle Town, Death Is Hanging Over Me, Big Store, Shame for the Angels "Death Is Hanging Over Me" 是引我認識Sudden的第一首歌, 這是另一個版本: http://0rz.tw/aa2vX "The Last Bandit", Nikki Sudden在我心目中形象的最佳寫照: http://0rz.tw/012sm "Green Shield Stamps", 出自2006年的最後專輯, 也是對青春的最後回顧和告別: http://0rz.tw/c42xT 改天或許再來談早他九年過世的胞弟/戰友 Epic Soundtracks.
