Maroon 5 once again puts the reins on PSY's attempt to finish first on the Billboard Hot 100. While the Korean rapper has promised to perform 'Gangnam Style' "topless in a place where everyone can watch" should the song top the tally, Maroon 5 again prevents such bare-chested cheer, as "One More Night" spends a fifth week at No. 1. PSY's song, aided by its viral video in which he shows off his horse-like moves, holds at No. 2 for a fourth frame. The battle for No. 1 wasn't as close as last week, when "Night" bested "Style" by fewer than 700 overall chart points. This week, approximately 2,000 points separate the songs, as "Night" gains by 1% in overall points and "Style" declines by 3%. "Style" gains slightly more in audience this week than "Night" (6.7 million vs. 6.4 million, according to Nielsen BDS), but the latter song remains atop the Hot 100 largely thanks to its wide lead in radio airplay. "Night" logs a second week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart (in its 12th week on the ranking) with a 5% increase to 131 million all-format audience impressions. The younger "Style" (five weeks on Radio Songs) surges by 12% to 63 million, roaring 16-12 on Radio Songs. On the mainstream top 40-based Pop Songs radio airplay chart, "Style" jumps 13-10 in its fifth week, marking the fastest ascent to the top 10 for a male artist's debut hit since Jay Sean's "Down" (featuring Lil Wayne) also flew to the top tier in five frames in 2009. The more than two-to-one radio advantage of "Night" is enough to keep it at No. 1 on the Hot 100 despite "Style" leading in streaming and sales. On On-Demand Songs, "Style" tallies a second week on top, although with a 4% downturn to 981,000 on-demand streams, according to BDS. "Night" narrows the streaming lead of "Style," rebounding 4-3 on On-Demand Songs with a smaller decrease (down 2%) to 799,000. On the Digital Songs chart, "Night" likewise slices into the lead of "Style." "Style" rebounds 4-2 with a 10% decline to 231,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and "Night" reverses course (5-4) with a 4% decline to 160,000. With its latest sales frame, "Night" passes 2 million downloads sold to date. At five weeks on top, it's also Maroon 5's longest Hot 100 reign, besting the four-week command of "Moves Like Jagger" (featuring Christina Aguilera) last year. Below the race to the Hot 100's winner's circle, Taylor Swift makes a top 10 entrance for a third straight week with a preview track from her fourth album, "Red," due Oct. 22, as "I Knew You Were Trouble" blasts in at No. 3. The song ties "Mine" (Aug. 21, 2010) for her second-highest launch, trailing only "Today Was a Fairytale," which began at No. 2 the week of Feb. 6, 2010. "Trouble" begins atop Digital Songs with 416,000, Swift's second-best sales week; she sold more in a frame the week of Sept. 1 when "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" opened at No. 1 on Digital Songs (and rocketed 72-1 on the Hot 100) with 623,000, the best-ever sum for a song by a woman. "Never" joins "Trouble" in the Hot 100's top five, holding at No. 5 (below fun.'s "Some Nights," which maintains its No. 4 rank), granting Swift two titles in the top five simultaneously for the first time. In its 10th week on the Hot 100, "Never" debuts at last on On-Demand Songs (No. 23) following its first full week of streaming availability. (It was released to streaming services on Oct. 2.) The song registered 91% of its 457,000 on-demand streams via Spotify, with Cricket, Rdio, Rhapsody and Slacker also contributing to its total. "Never" spent three weeks atop the Hot 100 last month without the benefit of streaming points. (Due to its pure pop, even dubstep-leaning, sound, "Trouble" does not appear on the newly-revamped Country Songs chart, which, as of last week, now blends airplay, sales and streaming data; it's also not being promoted to country radio. "Never" spends a second week atop the tally). Justin Bieber's "As Long as You Love Me," featuring Big Sean, returns to its peak to date on the Hot 100 (7-6), followed by Alex Clare's "Too Close," which scores a new highpoint (10-7). In its third week, Ke$ha's "Die Young" vaults into the Hot 100's top 10 (14-8) with across-the-board gains. The first single from her album "Warrior," due Dec. 4, bumps 7-5 on Digital Songs (139,000, up 1%) and 25-16 on Radio Songs (55 million, up 23%) and debuts on On-Demand Songs at No. 27 (436,000, up 81%). "Young" marks Ke$ha's eighth Hot 100 top 10 dating to her arrival with the nine-week No. 1 "TiK ToK" in 2010. P!nk's "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" (9-9) and Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen's "Good Time" (11-10) round out the top 10. Next week's top 10 could welcome two new titles just outside the region this week: Rihanna's "Diamonds," which shines 18-11, and Ne-Yo's "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)," which charges 17-12 (above Adele's "Skyfall," which slips 8-13 in its second week).
