今天心血來潮把Donna Lewis的2張專輯拿出來聽~ 仍然覺得聽她的音樂是種輕鬆愉快而沒有負擔的感覺~ 後來才發現她第2張專輯"Blue Planet"離現在也已經4年了~ 上網想看看她最近有沒有新片的消息~ 到了她的官方站後才知道~ 她果然在今年3月發了第三張專輯"Be Still"~ 但是也在她官方站上得知她與Atlantic拆夥的消息~ 不知道有沒有人知道這件事~ 以下是官方站新聞全文~ Leaving Atlantic Records Donna has revealed more details about the reasons for her split with Atlantic Records. The ‘Blue Planet’ album was initially given the seal of approval by record executives and early indications were that it would receive priority support. What happened next is disputed, but after only 2 weeks at radio and despite a positive reaction across many territories, the record company changed the first single, "I Could Be The One" to "Love Him". Donna confirmed that she was frustrated by the lack of commitment from the record company behind "Love Him" despite its phenomenal success in charging to the top of Billboard Dance Chart. "It became clear to both me and the management team that Atlantic were failing to give us the support that the track's popularity deserved, which we felt left us with no choice but to part company". "Sadly, I'm not the first this has happened to and I won't be the last. Every situation is different and the scenario is usually complex, but this experience has given me a far better understanding of the problems an artist faces in trying to keep the support of their label". Donna admits leaving was a brave move, but the rift has given her the opportunity to control her own destiny and start to experiment with different directions in her music. 後來查了一下~ 她的第三張專輯應該只有在官方站上面才能買得到~ 因為上面是說是Internet release March 2002~ 而這第三張專輯的緣起是為了歌迷和官方站的成立~ When plans were being made last year to start a website, I began thinking about making a record that would be exclusively available to you, the fans. I began writing songs at the piano and loved the way they sounded in their raw form. I decided to take a "back to basics" approach to the recording, using only piano/keys and vocals to convey the intimacy of the songs. "Be Still" is a collection of work close to my heart. There are a number of things going on - a PR campaign starts now in America, the objective to spread awareness of the website and the new record. Donna is also planning to do some live ‘acoustic’ shows to promote the record, the first date is July 20 At The Woodstock Playhouse, New York State. Donna says:“My very good friend Robbie Dupree asked me if I would be a special guest artist at a show he was putting on at the famous Woodstock Playhouse. I will be performing an acoustic set of songs from my 3 albums.
