Bjork, PJ Harvey, Shins On 'Gilmore' Soundtrack
The Rhino collection "Our Little Corner of the World: Music From
Gilmore Girls" will hit stores Sept. 24, the same day its
namesake comedy-drama series kicks off its third season on the
WB network. The compilation is highlighted by new music from
Grant Lee Phillips and series composer Sam Phillips, as well as
a newly recorded version of the show's theme, "Where You Lead, I
Will Follow" performed by Carole King and Louise Goffin.
Grant Lee Phillips turns in the original "Smile," while Sam
Phillips contributes "Tell Her What She Wants To Know" as well
as several songs still to be determined. The disc will also
feature contributions from the Shins, Big Star, Bjork, John
Lennon, Elastica, Black Box Recorder, Yo La Tengo, Joey Ramone,
and more.
Grant Lee Phillips and King have both appeared on the series,
which revolves around a Connecticut mother-and-daughter pair,
and features music -- especially independent rock --
prominently, as the characters often discuss their favorite
artists.
