李康生出色的處女作很明顯與他的人生導師蔡明亮的電影有著相似之處，但電影【不見】擁有屬於它自己的細膩情感及節奏韻律。
毫不相干的兩個人，一名孩童與一名老人在同一天失蹤了。孩童的失蹤馬上被察覺了，老人的不見卻是在數個小時後才被察覺到。我們分別跟隨著兩位失蹤人物的照顧者──孩童的外婆與老人的孫子，看外婆不顧一切的尋找孩童時，老人的孫子卻浪費時間在虛擬世界的戰爭遊戲。
故事的背景，人們正被SARS般的病毒侵害，然而在故事以外真實世界的某個地方，一場真正的戰爭正在奪走許多人民的性命。
外婆發瘋似的尋求生死兩界幫忙尋找孩童，兩者卻都愛莫能助。而老人的孫子（如同一般孩童般倔強而自足）並不尋求任何人的幫忙，但他亦同樣的迷失在原地打轉。
經過了這一天，由這些混亂的片斷經驗，在我們心底浮現一幅無法治癒的現代文明病景像。這部電影如同水晶般清晰與美麗。

【Synopsis】
Lee Kang-Sheng's remarkable debut feature has an obvious family likeness with the films of his mentor Tsai Ming-Liang, but its sensibility and rhythms are all its own. Two unrelated people go missing the same day, an infant and a pensioner. One disappearance is noticed almost immediately, the other not until hours later. We follow the missing people's carers -- a grandma and a grandson, respectively -- as one searches for the missing child with increasing desperation and the other squanders his day on
virtual-reality war games. In the background, other people are going down with a SARS-like virus; off-screen somewhere, a real war is raging and filling body-bags. The grandma calls on both the living and the dead for help in her frantic search, but neither can give her what she needs. The grandson (tough and self-sufficient, as kids are) asks for no-one's help in his search, but he goes round in circles too. Across this one day, through these fragments of dislocated experience, we get a picture of a
contemporary malaise which no antibiotic can cure. The picture is crystal-clear, and very beautiful.
