Van Hunt - On the Jungle Floor
Hunt- On the Jungle Floor
Official Released on April 4, 2006
R&B crooner Van Hunt grew up surrounded by the pimp lifestyle of his father.
A soundtrack of classic soul and contemporary R&B was his backdrop and Hunt
immersed himself in the tones and moods of it all. A move from the Midwest to
Atlanta in his early twenties allowed Hunt to hone his soul sound in the
making. He'd been playing guitar and writing songs since his teens, so
naturally a career in music was on the horizon. Capitol inked him a deal in
2003 and his self-titled debut arrived in February 2004. Appearances on Soul
Train, Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn, and NPR coincided with the release
of Van Hunt's double single "Dust and "Seconds of Pleasure."

We all know that we cannot wait for this album to be released. Van Hunt's
debut album is one of the best neo-soul releases. I am listening to his album
as I write and Van Hunt does what no other has he infuses funk with soul
creating a sound that is so pleasing to the ear and soul. The first track on
the album "Dust" is an acclamation of that and the album only gets better as
you continue to experience the album. Songs like "Seconds of Pleasure" and
"Down Here In Hell (With You)" put him amongst neo-soul royalty. I undoubtedly
know that his sophomore album "On The Jungle Floor" will take to higher height
than the self titled debut, if even possible... In the meanwhile here is a
short snippet review of his yet to be release album;
With ON THE JUNGLE FLOOR, Hunt unleashes a sound that contains both the
energy of youth and the wisdom of experience. The album is a follow-up to VAN
HUNT, his widely-hailed, Grammy-nominated 2004 debut. THE NEW YORK TIMES
described that album as "the perfect soundtrack for any seduction," while
PEOPLE magazine called him "the next great soul artist." ROLLING STONE simply
stated that with the release of VAN HUNT, "the bar has been raised." Artists
including Mary J. Blige and Adam Clayton of U2 lined up to sing the young
artist 's praises, and he was honored with a Grammy nod for "Best Urban/
Alternative Performance."

Neo-soul...
