Taylor Swift's "Fearless" (Big Machine) begins a seventh week at No. 1 on
The Billboard 200, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since Usher's
"Confessions" spent nine at the top in 2004. "Fearless" sold 63,000 copies
in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, an 11% decline from
the week prior.
Beyonce's "I Am ... Sasha Fierce" (Music World/Columbia) climbs 4-2 with
49,000, about 150 copies less than last week. Nickelback's Roadrunner album
"Dark Horse" moves 46,000 (-12%), slipping 2-3.
This week's top debut is the Bad Boy soundtrack to "Notorious," the Notorious
B.I.G. biopic, which bows at No. 4 with 43,000. It's the fifth soundtrack to
debut in the top five of the chart over the past year. The soundtrack includes
some of the rapper's best-known work, plus B.I.G.'s first demo tape, two new
tracks from Jay-Z, songs from Santogold, Jadakiss, Faith Evans and a "One More
Chance" remix featuring B.I.G.'s son, CJ Wallace.
On a 22% decrease to 40,000, Kanye West's "808s and Heartbreak" (Roc-A-Fella/
Def Jam) descends 3-5. The Chop Shop/Atlantic soundtrack to "Twilight" takes
a 16% hit to 36,000 and slides 5-6. Falling 6-7 is Britney Spears' "Circus"
(Jive) with 34,000 (-16%), and Jamie Foxx's "Intuition" stays put at No. 8
with only a few dozen fewer copies sold (-7%).
Keyshia Cole's Geffen album "A Different Me" slips 7-9 with 31,000 (-15%).
Meanwhile, David Cook's 19 Recordings/RCA self-titled debut experiences a 58%
sales surge to 31,000, bumping it up 18-10. Reigning "American Idol" champ
Cook's "A Daily Anthem" was featured in "Idol" debut week programming last week
The Interscope soundtrack to "Slumdog Millionaire" vaults 55-16 with 20,000
(116%) after the parent film won four Golden Globes on Jan. 11, including best
original score for composer A.R. Rahman.
Three other albums debut inside of the top 50 of The Billboard 200 this week.
Just in time for the storied label's 50th anniversary, "NOW That's What I Call
Motown" starts at No. 13 with 23,000. The Derek Trucks Band enters at No. 19
with "Already Free" (Columbia), the group's highest chart performance to date.
Its previous best came with the No. 164 peak of "Songlines" in 2006.
R&B/gospel singer Heather Headley's "Audience of One" (EMI Gospel) starts at
No. 27 with 15,000. Indie rock outfit Fleet Foxes enjoys a 32% burst to 10,000
copies and a 67-46 jump on the chart for its self-titled Sub Pop debut, after
its Jan. 17 performance on "Saturday Night Live."
At 5.89 million units, sales are down 5.7% compared to the same total
last week and off by 15.4% compared to the same week in 2008.
