Beck to Appear on New Air Album
Anything to discourage him from making out with Winona
Ryan Schreiber reports:
On the heels of their score to Sofia Coppola's critically acclaimed
art-house film, The Virgin Suicides, Air (French Band) are hard at work
on the official follow-up to 1998's Moon Safari.
The band has been holed up since last December. According to
session drummer Brian Reitzell (by way of Beck's official website),
the new record will be "very different to Moon Safari" and
does not even remotely resemble the soundtrack to The Virgin Suicides.
"Every song is a song," Reitzell said. "There's no art damage."
The site also indicates that Beck has collaborated with the French duo
on two of the record's new tracks, though there was no speculation or
elaboration on the title of the songs or what they may sound like.
Beck collaborated once before with the band,
remixing their 1998 hit song "Sexy Boy" for the single,
to which he added the incredibly sexy sounds of eating.
The as-yet-untitled album is tenatively scheduled for release
through Astralwerks during the first quarter of 2001.
