Re: The Venus in Furs
※ 引述《MercuryRev (水星逆轉)》之銘言:
: ※ 引述《grover (the f word)》之銘言:
: : you sure?
: : The Venus in Furs應該是因為原聲帶而組的團
: : 團員包括 Bernard Butler
: : Jonny Greenwood
: : Thom Yorke
: : Andy Mackay
: : Paul Kimble
: : Clune
: : 在原聲帶中他們大部份是重釋Roxy Music和Eno的作品。
: 二位指的是不同的團體...吧...
: 曾在誠音看到The Venus In Furs的專輯,
: 不過封面看起來像是有點年代的樂團
: OST當中的夢幻組合,如果能一起合作出專輯....
: 一定很棒@_@
so it seems that there did exisist a band also named 'Venus in Furs',
only not the very supergroup including Butler, Greenwood, Yorke, Mackay,
Kimble, and Clune in the same name...
however, i can't find any other related data about this band, either...
in this case i can hardly find out if i was wrong about that EMI,TW
have ever released their CD as '毛皮裡的維納斯' or something like that...
maybe i should search for the review among my old MCBs...@@"
i remember that there were a short review about this band about a year ago..

Venus in Furs
Biography:
While the tragic story of James Brown protege MARTO is well known,
fewer know that the Bullets, MARTO's backing band famously named
after the shape of their leader, went on to form Venus in Furs,
the band made famous in John KipJohn Baristow's recent German
-language documentary "Nitemaremuzik." While Asiapop guru/svengali
Sufeng Cai claims he assembled the band, his claims are unfounded;
the sextet of a former hermaphroditic prostitute, a German gorillaporn
star, a Swedish Jellydonn, a bullet artist, an Ethiopian slave, and
a firedrill administrator found each other entirely by their own
accord. Despite instances of sudden and unexplained death at almost
every performance, their rare live shows throughout the Midwest and
Mideast consistently draw large crowds of both their loyal fan base
and curious onlookers. Venus in Furs currently consists of Adam Bursack
(lead vocals, keyboards, sound mutilation), Joe Schneider (guitar,
keyboards, vocals), Danny Gillispie (guitar, slide guitar, drums,
keyboards, vocals), Char Rogers (bass, guitar), Mike Thorsgaard (drums,
bass), and Jon Lenzmeier (keyboards, bass, percussion). "Wyrms" was
taken from a bootleg-quality live recording of the band performing
on May 7, 1999. "The Monkey Song" (except for the intro and outro
noise later grafted on) was recorded "Louie Louie"-style to a single
microphone in a dank, dirty garage with the muffled vocals and overdriven
guitars run through the same early '60's tube amp that died a short
time later. It features former ViF member (and current resident of
Minot, ND) Tom Haugen on bass. Gate 42 is an improvised instrumental
that was recorded to a mini-cassette in Adam's basement at 3 a.m. It
again features Tom (on acoustic guitar) along with Joe (electric guitar)
and Adam (synth-sitar). It's title is taken from the notorious gate
at New Jersey's Newark International Airport.
