Tori Amos is an artist who follows the muse with every fiber of her being, usually for the better, and of course, sometimes for the worse. Strictly musically speaking, Scarlet's Walk is a return to the styles of her first three albums. I.e., piano, orchestration. A mostly mellow vibe wilth a handful of upbeat tracks. The problem, as with Boys For Pele, (Both have 18 tracks), is that it's too long. Songs like "A Sorta Fairytale", "Taxi Ride", "Another Girl's Paradise", "Your Cloud" and "Strange" are sandwitched between lesser tracks such as "Don't Make Me Come To Vegas", "Wampum Prayer" and the title track. As with Boys For Pele, there is a stunning twelve track album within this one. It's not good or bad. It's Tori Amos, and that's always a good thing. Try This. I'm going to add an alternate tracklisting to both Boys For Pele and Scarlet's Walk. Program only these tracks into your cd player and listen to them all the way through. See if you might just agree with me.
