Reality TV Games participated in a post-elimination phone call with America Next Top Model 13's Bianca Richardson. Sorry for the delay in posting this interview. Are your stats the same as when you started the show, are you 5'7"? Yes. (Are you still in school?) Yes... I am [a senior] at Howard University in D.C.! My major is public relations and my minor is fashion. (That is interesting, what other areas of fashion interest you?) I would definitely like to be a creative director for fashion week or a fashion publicist for designers. I also thought of being a buyer. (Does your interest in fashion go back awhile?) Definitely! It started with my grandmother, she would carefully match my socks, the kind that hang over your shoes, and my ribbons AND my nail polish! I remember as a child when we were going shopping at J.C. Penney, she would carefully match all of my outfits, everything, EVERYTHING! Also, Peggy Dillard is from Spartanburg, South Carolina - she is an African-American model, she was in Cosmo and on the cover of Vogue... also growing up in South Carolina and my etiquette school days. (So it sounds like you had a very southern belle upbringing?) I definitely had a southern belle upbringing - I was taught how to sit, how to get out of a chair, if I dropped something on the floor how to pick it up. (How do you feel about that now, do you appreciate it, have you rebelled against it?) You know being a lady should never stop... I don't regret it at all, I thank my mother and my grandmother for teaching me these things because lots of females my age who did not have this... I don't think that it should ever be forgotten. How did you become interested in Top Model? I have been a fan of the show for a while, my grandmother and I would sit and watch it. I auditioned in D.C. at the Renaissance Hotel, I made it through two rounds and then went to LA as one of the 33 semi-finalists. (How has your family reacted to you being on the show?) At first they were mainly concerned about school, education is extremely, EXTREMELY important. They are proud of me, they know that modeling has always been a goal of mine and they know what makes me happy. Do you plan to pursue modeling when you graduate? Actually I plan to pursue modeling now... I've been pursuing it and ANTM was a big step for me, but it is definitely not the last. (Did you model before the show?) Mmm-hmm, I did runway, a lot of print work especially working with a lot of local high-end boutiques here in D.C., I did a couple of shows in New York and a lot of shows here, especially through the embassies, D.C. Fashion Week... I have been modeling since I moved to D.C. in 2006. (Are you going to try to get signed by an agency?) Yes, I think that is Top Model's major goal I think that is where a lot of old contestants go wrong, they give you this push and they WANT you to go after your goals. I don't think they cast you on the show and give you all of these opportunities for you to just sit down, they want you to go after it. (Which markets are you most interested in?) All of them, wherever I fit in, wherever there is a demand for Bianca that is where I'll go. Do you think your height is going to limit you? What is your strategy to deal with it? I don't think my height is going to limit me. I am just going to continue to being myself, I am going to be Bianca. I will use the constructive criticism and advice that I was given to make it in this industry. Everyone is not going to like you, Tyra was told no many times before she was even signed and that is something you accept. Are you interested in any other offshoots of modeling? I have always had an interest in acting, I belonged to a couple of theater companies back home. I played an Ikette, Aretha Franklin, one of the nuns in Sound of Music, I was in commercials... a kid in the Wal-Mart for back-to-school, I was in a show back home called "Extra Credit," I was one of the hosts, we would come together and talk about teen issues, we'd raise awareness and come up with solutions... it was very interesting, I loved it. I was a liturgical dancer at my church when I was younger, I actually taught dance and traveled with the ministry. I want to have a non-profit organization for little children...girls. Are you planning on keeping your makeover? Yes, we have to keep our makeover. (If you had a choice, what look would you prefer?) That depends on whatever the agency says... whatever makes me more marketable is what I will go with. Overall did you think that you were portrayed fairly? No and yes. With every human there are things that tick us off and make us mad, and they may not have shown all of the catalysts and caveats of an issue, it was just my reaction that was shown. but am I a little less vulnerable? Do I have a hard exterior? Yes, but that is not all there is to Bianca, there is more to Bianca than just that. Who were your closest friends in the house? Do you keep in touch with anyone from your cycle? [When I was in L.A.,] I talked to Courtney a lot and Nicole. I am in touch with Sundai, I talk to her a lot, I talk to Nicole, Ashley, Laura and Brittany. (How did you fit in in the house?) In the beginning I talked mostly to Courtney, but I am more of an observer, my grandmother told me that God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason, that means you should listen twice as much as you talk. Much of what the girls talked about didn't matter to me, it mattered to them, but not to me. When Courtney left I didn't gravitate towards anyone except Nicole, so I mostly stayed to myself, I am an only child so it was fine by me. You were in an abusive relationship and as of the taping of the show, it seemed like you were still working through what happened, is that a correct interpretation? It was an argument and things happen, it was just a physical altercation and that's it. It is in the past and it is something that I choose not to harp upon. I think that we all have experiences in life that you get over, but you don't forget it, I happened to voice it, but there are many women who have gone through this. You can take it two ways, you can get over it and become stronger or you can wallow in it and miss out on blessings, good men and continue to let it destroy you and I refuse to let that happen. I choose to get over it, it has made me a stronger, better and wiser person, my past will never determine my present or my future. (You decided to cut your hair as part of dealing with this experience, why?) I think when women go through a change - it can be any kind of relationship change, boyfriend, job, we do something like this - we cut our hair, we go shopping, change our hair color, our nail color, it signifies rebirth. I just had an Angela Bassett / Waiting to Exhale moment, you want to start over... start fresh. Not counting Cycle 13, what is your favorite ANTM cycle and who are your favorite competitors? I really enjoyed the cycle with Eva on it (Cycle 3), I loved Yoanna, I thought she was so pretty, definitely Eva Pigford, Ann, Bre and I liked Allison from last season. Who are your favorite models? designers? My favorite model is Omahyra Mota, also Kate Moss, she not only does modeling, but she does Top Shop, she has done a lot. I love innovative women and when they use their craft for other things. Of course, Tyra Banks, she changed the game, and then Gisele Bundchen, she is just gorgeous, not in a conventional way... she's memorable. My favorite designers are Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney and Emilio Pucci. What few words pop in your mind about Jay Manuel - Fierce... and he has a sensitive side, he looks beyond the surface, which I love about him. Jay Alexander - I love Miss J, I actually found out that his mother was from Charleston, South Carolina. I love him, he's very diverse and has a lot of knowledge... he had a lot to offer to us in the competition. I like how it is cut and dry with him, it may be because of my personality that I can take it. He gives constructive criticism., which is what they all do... but it is cut and dry...love it. Nigel - Very, very detailed individual... and posh. Tyra - I like the fact that she is trying to help people; she's like, "I know I am retired, but I am going to take out the time to reach out to aspiring models, she is basically spreading her knowledge and insight... there aren't that many people doing that. There aren't too many artists and craftsman who are willing to give back, she is helping us at the end of the day What was the most consistent positive and negative feedback that you got from the judges? It was the feedback that I got from Tyra, she was like, "Bianca, you are the total package, and the softness that you are giving me with your face when you are in front of me, I want to see it on camera, and when you can do that, you will have it all." So that's it all together, both good and bad feedback. When she told me that I was not working on my face, that was by far the best advice, it was a compliment and advice at the same time. -- 正妹:帥哥 一個人嗎? 正妹:帥哥 你寂寞嗎? 正妹:帥哥 帥哥 帥哥 你還在做白日夢嗎????
