新聞當然有雷呀~ Singing competition finale more than doubles the ratings of island melodrama's finale. In last night's head-on collision of season finales, viewers voted for Fox. The fifth season finale of American Idol scored an average of 36 million viewers for its two-hour telecast, while the season-two finale of ABC's Lost notched a healthy 17.6 million viewers. True to form for the show, Lost's ratings were off from last season. The reality competition began at 8 p.m., when 27.4 million folks watched the two remaining contestants, Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee, sing their last songs. Viewership continued to rise until the 9:30-10 p.m. time slot, when a whopping 42.9 million tuned in to see Hicks win the crown. Last night's Idol finale ratings were better than last year's, when 30.3 million viewers saw Carrie Underwood win the crown. Overall, this has been the series' best ratings, with an average of 30 million viewers per week. Lost clocked in at 9 p.m. and averaged 17.8 million viewers for its two-hour finale. Once Idol ended at 10 p.m., Lost's ratings rose to 19.3 million viewers.
