THE SOUL OF D'ANGELO mixed by ameldabee http://www.straightstreet.fr/dabee/soulofdangelo/ Michael D’Angelo Archer knows his soul. Teaching himself piano at an early age, he soon modeled himself on the likes of his idols Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green. Not only vocally wise, but also artistically, as he writes his own material and produce most of it. With "Brown Sugar", he has been considered one of the founding fathers and leading lights of the neo-soul movement of the mid to late 90’s. Absolutely amazing live, he toured extensively over the next two years, and then not much of anything happened. Occasionally, he contributed a cover tune for some movie soundtracks (that has been dug the dusty way for this mix CD). It took him 5 years to finally release his follow-up album, the funk infused "Voodoo". The man is highly perfectionist, collaborating only with the best artists; he hasn’t put much material out and it was sometimes quite hectic to get our hands on those obscure remixes or rare covers. We are then extremely proud to bring you this compilation, made with the words cohesive and exhaustive in mind, trying to show all the soul flavours of the fabulous songwriter and producer that is D’Angelo.
