They're more than one one way to take prisoners

Klingons don't believe in non-lethal weaponary
And even weapons on lethal settings won't necessarily
kill their subjects, it all depends on which part of the body's been shot.
Simply stated, the Romulan/Klingons do not believe when you want to
use your main energy weapon, there're still concerns over the subjects'
well'being
Besides, disruptors utilizes energy more effeciantly,
allows the Klingons/Romulans/Cardassians/Breens...etc. to conserve energy
