http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/top/2003/index.shtml pitchfork應該是當今最權威的Indie/Alternative媒體，尤其在Spin，Q，AP等實體雜誌相繼因商業壓力而逐漸棄守獨立陣營時， pitchfork運用自己網路媒介的特性，仍然保留了高度的獨立性。雖然時有耳聞一些他們的負面新聞，但那些圈內的事物和遠在太平洋一端的我們著實起不了任何關係，就當八掛聽一聽就好。但長久以來的觀察以及和一些朋友的討論， pitchfork的評分標準受意識型態的影響極大，不光是純粹地從音樂的面向來評分，常常會與社會議題，種族議題攪拌，並帶有強烈的個人主觀好惡。因此一些硬蕊龐克團，rap，hip hop，在pitchfork的評價都異常的高。簡而言之就是，他們的音樂立場很清楚，合則來，不合則去，旁人也無庸置喙。前幾年瘋狂迷戀美國Indie音樂時，曾經按照pitckfork 2000 & 2001這兩年的年終榜單，按圖所驥買了不少CD，雖然確實發現了不少好東西，但大多數早已被我脫手賣出。再度證明了音樂品味有趣的地方。還是老話一句，找到自己的痛之前，該付的學費還是要付的...哈(苦笑)。 2003年的pitchfork top 50 我仍有將近10張專輯連樂團的名字都沒聽過，遑論音樂。其餘的有自己很喜歡的(在前面加 * 符號)，也有自己聽過可是覺得還好，甚至已經脫手賣掉的(在前面加 - 符號)。包括這份榜單加上之前已經貼的不少份，用意還是希望能幫大家早日找到自己的痛。我也曾是榜單的信徒，但隨著學費的繳納和經驗的累積，現在也可以比較客觀的看待不同音樂品味之下產生的歧異。感想是，與其花一個小時看完好幾篇樂評，都比不上去Amazon試聽30秒。 top 50 albums of 2003 by pitchfork (excludes the White Stripes) 50: Supersilent/6 *49: Cyann & Ben/Spring 48: Saturday Looks Good to Me/All Your Summer Songs 47: George/The Magic Lantern *46: M.
