He also was recently named the Artist of the Decade for this decade, something he easily could’ve been called the previous two decades as well. With his Troubadour album now finished releasing singles, George presents his lead single from his upcoming “Twang” album, “Living For The Night" This single is different than all of George’s previous singles because he co-wrote it with his son Bubba (George Strait, Jr.) and Dean Dillon. “Living For The Night” sounds like a classic after one listen with classic guitar leads and steel guitar moans leading the way as strings lay softly behind George’s vocal about the loss of someone that he loved. Rather than face the day, he continues to live for the night of hanging out in a bar where he can drown his sorrows. Given that George and his wife Norma lost their daughter Jennifer many years ago in a terrible car accident, it's not a stretch to think that the idea for this song has lingered in George's mind for years. While this single is bound to become a big hit regardless of whether it’s actually a good song or not, “Living For The Night” is one of the best songs that George’s released this past year and it leaves me hopeful that “ Twang” may be one of 2009’s best albums.
