在帶出Eminem這位Hip Hop superstar, Dr.Dre在短短的幾年內又造就一名饒舌巨星. 來自Queens, New York的Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, 沒有Nas的pure lyricism 也沒有Jay-Z的wicked flow. 50 Cent有的是一位傳奇製作人和一名Top 5 MC共同背書, 以及自己在街頭發行mixtape所累積的street credit. 不過要成為饒舌巨星這些還不夠. 最重要的是吸引人的故事. 前drug dealer Supreme的小弟, 中槍九次仍然存活過來, 如此精美(??)的履歷表是所有gangsta rapper夢寐以求的. 而在與Ja Rule的beef中, 50 隻手料理了Murder Inc. 更是將50塑造成the baddest guy in New York. 當然這些都只是茶餘飯後的drama, 音樂才是最重要的. Get Rich Or Die Tryin的首支主打歌In Da Club輕鬆佔據Billboard單曲榜首一段相當長的時間, 各大電台的播放紀錄也紛紛被這首歌打破. 這首歌的成功真得歸功於Dre, 在Dre的beats裡, 這組應該可以打入Top10. 先以這首派對歌吸引大家的注意之後50將用其他的歌曲驚豔聽眾. 50的街頭hardcore歌詞和寫凶狠hook的才能在Heat這首歌裡展露無遺. Look niggas, don't think you safe cause you moved out the hood, cuz ya momma still aroud dog, and daddy aint good. If you was smart enough you'd be shook of me, cuz I'd get tired of looking for ya, spray ya momma's crib and let you ass look for me. 找不到人就動人家爹娘, grimy and dirty 正是 50 的gangster style. 這首歌的副歌更是hardcore, I do what I gotta do, I don't care if I get caught. The DA can play this motherfucking tape in court. I'll kill you, I aint playing. 整首歌就是講他拿著AK到處殺人. 如此受爭議性的歌詞也是大眾的最愛. 一般聽眾不會想聽Nas的街頭故事也不在乎KRS說自己才是real Hip Hop. 他們要的是entertainment. 50有的正是他們想要的. 在Patiently Waiting裡50找到了Eminem來跨刀, Eminem不負眾望給了一段超屌歌詞, Take some Biggie and Pac, and mix them up in a pot. Sprinkle a little Big L on top, what da fuck you got? You got the realest and illest killas tied up in a knot. The juggernaut of this rap shit, like it or not. 以50的功力要跟 Eminem在同一首歌裡佔上風的機率不大, 不過50 還是有辦法穩住陣腳不被殺太慘, You bitch a regular bitch, you calling her wifey. I fucked and feed her fast food, you keeping her icey. I'm down to sell records not my soul, Snoop said this in 94, we don't love these hos. Got pennies for my thought, now I'm rich. See the the twenty spinning looking mean on the six. Niggas wearing flags cause the color match their clothes. They get caught in the wrong hood, they get filled with holes. Back Down, 這張專輯中僅次於Heat的hardcore屌歌(兩首都是Dre製作), 50直接槓上Ja Rule和Irv Gotti, 更在歌曲最後揶揄了他們一番, ya mammi, ya pappi, that lil bitch you chasing, ya little dirty ass kid, I'll fucking erase them. Your success is not enough, you wanna be hard, knowing that you get knocked, you get fucked in the yard......your boss is a bitch, if he could he would, sell his soul for cheap, trade his Knight to be Suge(!!) 整首歌加副歌都是 harcore 到爆表, 甚至可以從50饒舌的聲音和口氣中感受到他的憤怒跟憎恨. Now you stay outta my zone, outta my throne, I'm the New York City's own...Bad Guy... Get Rich Or Die Tryin是我心目中千囍年後主流唯一的classic, 再來是 Jay的Black Album. GRODT整張專輯我大概只會跳過一首(Like My Style...yayo..)其他都能從頭聽到尾. 身為一個G-Unit的fans, 對50 之後兩張專輯的表現真的很失望, 後期的50完全失去了GRODT時期的hunger, 專輯裡充滿了nursing rhyme和girls song, 一張專輯能聽的不到三首. 真懷念G-Unit走紅的時期, Lloyd Banks的Hunger For More, Young Buck的Straight Outta Cashville, G-Unit的Beg For Mercy, 甚至Game的 Documentary. 除了G-Unit/Shady/Aftermath, 又有哪一個camp可以發行好音樂又能輕鬆的top Billboard. 有錢的要死的50現在也不用在乎音樂了, 在Straight to the bank有一句, I aint even gotta rap now, life is made, I say I aint even gotta rap, I'm filthy man. 只能說GRODT時期的50Cent就像受傷前的Grant Hill, 應該是再也不會回來了.
