MK: Hi my name is Mia Kirschner you are about to watch episode 203 which is called Loneliest number and is directed by Rose Troche and written by Lara Spotts. MK: Kate, who plays Shane, and Jenny begin to live together in this episode and there was something really strange about it because off the show and Kate and Leisha, who plays Alice, and I all shared a house together and so there was something very surreal about going to work with Kate and living with Shane; and going home and living with Kate. And it was one of the first times that I’ve really worked with my friend… Cut to scene with Shane, Alice, Jenny etc. “If you saw yourself at a bar would you ask yourself out…Um, I think that if I were a guy, I would definitely ask myself out as a woman, and if I were a woman there's no ****** way that I would ever ask myself out as a woman.”... MK: At this point in the story with Jenny I think she just wants to have fun, I think she finds a soul mate in Shane and I think the rule is in the house, fun and honesty and openness… Cut back to scene with Shane “I’d **** myself, but I wouldn’t date myself...” etc. MK: It’s so much fun working with Kate, I mean usually we were giggling and we were like two mischievous kids in high school so when you see us working together know that we couldn’t keep a straight face. Cut to scene of Jenny and Shane at the bar “you sometimes remind me of guys I used to date in high school” etc. MK: It’s really a gift to be able to work with your friend. MK: In this episode Jenny starts attending a writing class and Charlotte Birch played by Sandra Bernhard is my writing teacher. Cut to scene with SB “hello and welcome to the defining moment of your existence…” MK: Jenny is extremely self-indulgent and I think that this teacher knocks some sense into her and really encourages her to step outside of herself. Cut to scene with MK and SB: “I want real writers in this class. Fiction writers. You don’t write like that. You journal. And I’m not hear to read the autobiography of Miss Jenny Schecter” MK: I expected this, you know, very funny, tough sort of intimidating lady and I was actually surprised by what I saw. We would sit between breaks talking about life and her love of the Kabbalah and she’s a very very insightful woman is very smart about people. MK: In this episode Jenny meets Carmen for the first time and I think that she’s just completely bowled over by her attraction to Carmen and how different she is from Jenny. It’s a combination of love and lust at first sight. I don’t think it was love but I think it was definitely about lightness and attraction and sexual freedom. Cut to scene with Carmen and Jenny “I’m Carmen.” I'm, Jenny...etc” MK: Carmen’s just this sort of fun party girl. She’s not complicated. It’s all about living from moment to moment. Jenny really sees an opportunity to come outside of herself and her own darkness. Which she needs to do! Cut to scene where Jenny and Carmen kiss for the first time… MK: So I think it’s a very important relationship for Jenny. MK: You are about to see The Loneliest Number. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.203.18.2
