Who is the best white rapper? Eminem, Estoeric, Apathy, Aesop Rock, or Vinnie Paz? Who is the best rapper coming out of Philly? Black Thought, Beanie Sigel, Freeway, or Vinnie? 相信不會有一個正確的答案, 因為每個人對音樂的喜好皆不同, 畢竟都只是個人的opinion. 但是如果今天問題是誰是費城最棒的白人饒舌歌手, 相信大部分的人都會同意是Vinnie Paz. 從開始聽饒舌樂以來我一直都知道這位Jedi Mind Tricks的Hardcore歌手, 不過我始終沒放太多心思在他們的音樂上. 只記得在東區大計畫試聽過, 當時聽了不是很喜歡, 畢竟初心者還是比較習慣聽有旋律一點的(想當年也是很愛Nelly的Dilemma阿). 對歌詞的感受力還不是很高, 要中他們的音樂還是有難度. 去年讓人興奮的CD真的不多, 外國論壇的高手強烈推薦了Army Of The Pharoah 的Ritual Of Battle. 當時只知道那是Vinnie帶領一群跟他一樣的Hardcore歌手的團, 不聽還好一聽就出事. 這群人做歌就是不鳥吸引人的hook不用R&B, 就是GO HARD on every song. 一首Bloody Tear讓我開始注意這群硬漢(No homo...) DJ Question 在副歌一直loop Die Motherfuckers Die. 整個氣勢超足. 四位歌手輪番上陣, 歌詞最吸我的正是壓軸的Vinnie Paz. I aint gonna leave your family any time to mourn. My clenched fistshows the power that's inside the palm. The same palm that was taking human lives in 'Nam. And I aint stopping it till all these human lives are gone(!!) 只打最後幾句, 其實整段都超猛. 有關暴力和槍械的主題, 正是 Vinnie的專長. 其中有一句更是直接嗆Kanye West是Gay rapper. 同專輯另一首歌叫 Gun Ballad, Vinnie Paz再次逞凶. The aim's sloppy dog, knife work mean, stick through the neck, pull it out, knife work clean. The God is righteous, but I might serve fiends. And the four fifth lift you out your iceberg jeans...... This aint the place to survive God, God don't live inside of me, I live inside of God.如此的狂妄跟 arrogance不正是Hardcore的精髓!? 今年Jedi Mind Tricks發行了新專輯The History Of Violence. 儘管Jus Allah急速退化, Vinnie Paz還是有辦法維持Jedi Mind Tricks的音樂品質(畢竟是他的團也只有Vinnie在專輯有solo的歌曲, 不只一首) 專輯裡最後一首歌Death Messiah, 我的 Song of 08. 這週已經replay六十幾次, 晚上睡不著還起來狂repeat這首... 整首歌在 Vinnie粗獷的聲音中仍能感受他的真情流露....I don't worry about what my friends do, I have a more urgent matter to attend to. Is this something that bigger when I die and vanish, that weaves everyone and everying into a canvas?..... Some of the things I said I hated to say, but blame youself motherfucker you made it this way. I don't think I would even I was able to stay...... Why can't everybody leave me alone, I'm the only one who really need to know that I've grown.....太長不打了...整首三段verse都很棒, 副歌的sample也很銷魂, 感覺應該是Stoupe製作的. 結論:這只是對Vinnie Paz近期的表現做相當簡單的推薦,之前發行的 Violent By Design, Servants in Heaven Kings in Hell甚至AOTP的第一章專輯大家都可以試試. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 130.85.244.45
